January 2018 news

The Hitman becomes the hot man

Rob The Hitman Scott was in hot form on January 29 after doubling up in the evening (the first couple of hands) against Nick Jeffery, having flopped a miracle straight. He was chip monster when we merged to two tables and was still healthy at the start of the final eight.

He battled through the final stages, at one stage being well behind the running at the last four stage. But a series of straights and two pairs swung the position to his favour. The heads up was against Matt Johnson was a drawn out and surprisingly cagey affair. Rob has assasinated eight of the 19 player field.

Also in the money was Milo Lopez and Sam Beaumont. Our bubble boy was Orlando Lopez.

Tea party for Chimp

Dave ‘Chimp’ Armstrong beat the field on the first tournament of 2018. In second was Caroline Mulliner, third Sandie Cresdee and bubble boy Mark White.

Look who’s a lucky B

Nick Jeffery took the main prize on January 8, heads up against Alfredo Mazzona. His lucky break came when blind calling with pocket aces.

Dennis beats seventeen

Dennis won our January 17 event, beating Andy Sallis after a long heads up. Den came back from the dead after being down to 5k chips when the blinds were 2.5k/5k. Repeated double ups put him in with the chance to challenge Andy in the last stages of the event. Andy had been chip monstered from the very first hand of the evening, when he forced Kit Hinton to reload after flopping a straight when Kit had flopped two pairs. To Kit’s credit, he came through to finish fifth.

In third was Jonno Vulture Cook and fourth, last week’s winner, Nick Jeffery.

Jonno’s lucky pants strike again

He came back from chip minnow to beat Dan Bruncak in the heads up on January 22. The previous week’s winner, Den Foster cashed in third. Jonno put his victory down to his trusty lucky pants, warn every Monday.
