July 2016 news

Another winner from Iceland!

Top Summer Final winner Ryan Tanner (Iceland man from Boundary Road Store), the three cash winners, Ryan with Sam Beaumont and Jamie Cleaver and the top table group.

3,808:1 chance of all the female players being drawn together

All four women in Monday’s tournament drew adjacent seats in out three table game. Left to right Fiona Herron, Sam Beaumont, Colleen McBride and Joey Newman. Sorry about the instrusion of the photographer’s thumb! My calculation is that the chances of this was 3.8k:1. Two top tabled and Sam reached the money and Fiona bubbled in fifth.

Barry ‘Rebuy’ Freeman wins again

Pete finally approves of dodgy dealing

Bazzer, our serial early exiter, won our July 11 event beating three packed tables of players. Second was Dan Bruncak, third Ryan Tanner and fourth Sam Beaumont. On the bubble was Fiona Herron.

A flopped two pair, developing into a boat gave Peter Woodcock the victory on July 3. He had a fairly long heads up against Ryan Tanner, with the lead swinging both ways. Peter occasionally does not mind Jonno’s dodgy dealing.

Pete’s second victory

Peter the Coach Woodcock won his second tournament of our summer season on July 18, putting pressure on Bazzer’s top league position. Second placed was the captain of consistency, Peter Metcalfe and third Kit Hinton. On the bubble was Barry. Another fun night on a hot and humid evening at the Bridge Club.

Micky Boyd cashes big at The Amex’s GPPT

Micky Master Boyd hit the big time at Brighton and Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium when the Grand Prix Poker Tour came to town with a guaranteed $250,000 prize pool. The event, held on the weekend of July 23 and 24, was staged by Dusk to Dawn and sponsored by Party Poker and over 2,000 players made the trip, some flying in from Scotland to grab a bit of the action.

Our ex Sussex Pub Poker Master did us proud through coming tenth, missing the top tabe by one place, but bagging a prize of $2,200. Not bad for a $109 stake!

The GPPT is doing a round of football stadiums over the coming months. It returns to Brighton’s Rendezvous Casino in September with a $50,000 guarantee pot.

Micky was running hot also on Monday July 25, but was beaten in the heads up by The Vulture.
