October 2018 news

Catherine Diffey took our Hallowe’en crown with AQ in her final hand of heads up against Jonno Vulture Cook. She entered this final phase when in big blind she held QQ, after a button fresh air push by Joe Winter (87) and the Vulture’s all in push with 88. The queens held. Our bubble was Milo Lopez, who had played a roller coaster game with his stack. Well done Catherine for winning in her second trip to the Avenue Bridge Club.

Claire smashes Joe’s slow played aces

A schoolboy error from the school master gave Claire Newman victory in a long heads up against Joe Winter. It was Claire’s first attempt at playing with Phoenix Pub Poker. Joe had seen his commanding chip lead erode significantly during the three way action involving Dan Bruncak and Claire had built from chip minnow, at the four way stage to a huge domination for the heads up. Joe was dealt aces and thought that this was his chance t pounce. Unfortunately the flop was not kind to his simple call, gifting Claire two pairs with Ten Seven.  Well played Claire!

A classic Slap Head victory pose

Nineteen players and

Joe Winter was  our October 15 champion! A chance for another gurning event.

T’was a long heads up against Kit Hinton, with the blinds reaching 50k/100k.

In third was Barry Freeman and fourth Peter Metcalfe.

Our unfortunate bubble was Sam Beaumont who got straighted by Bazzer in her final move.
