A new name went on the Thursday Trophy during as a result of Matt Mr Luck Jones winning the Spring 2012 league at the Poets’ Corner. Matt was only top of the league for one week, but the one that mattered, the last!

Captain Squeeze has done it at last! And the trophy moves a few blocks in Hove from Lee Millward’s closet to Matt’s pride of place.

The early league weeks were lead by Ken George and then new player Nathan Rarely Foulds took the limelight. However a nail biting final tournament, with Nathan busting sixth (whilst playing his joker) and Matt (also using his joker) had to win. He played an aggressive style and was extremely focused in that final session.

The Vulture was the league’s top assassin and Grant Queen Lean had the highest rating from his five attendances.

Previous winners of this coveted trophy are listed on our Wall of Fame here.

The pie chart above indicates the strength of Matt’s games at the Poets’ Corner this season. It measures the quartile finish in each tournament. In a sixteen player event, a player finishing in the top four would be in Quartile 1, fifth to eighth Quartile 2, ninth to twelfth in Quartile 3 and thirteenth to sixteenth in Quartile 4.
