Grand Total

Congratulations to Lee Negus for winning the Royal George League. Was it the intense poker or this establishment’s lager that turned Lee green? It certainly proves that even with a barnet like that cannot get in the way of playing some fine Hold’em.

Lee played solidly throughout the season, taking the lead from The Vulture in the third week and retaining it until the end. A wobble in the penultimate week, where Lee bust first in a 20 player field was his only wobble.

Focused tight play, the occasional strategic bluff and having faith in the odd Jack Eight were the ingredients to Lee’s success at the Monday venue.

Winning two of the 12 events helped enormously, but Lee lasted to the top half of the tournaments for three quarters of the events.

The above chart measures Lee’s quartile finish in each tournament. In a sixteen player event, a player finishing in the top four would be in Quartile 1, fifth to eighth Quartile 2, ninth to twelfth in Quartile 3 and thirteenth to sixteenth in Quartile 4.
